Welcome to FRASERVALLEY.NET!
|
Serving ALL the needs of Fraser Valley and Fraser Canyon |
By Ron Christain, owner
- Our goal is
to provide you with the very best in community news and services
for all types of interests. Yes there are other sites with the
Fraser Valley name attached to them, but unlike others this site
will be your site, not for the purpose of advertising a parent
company, it will only be maintained and supported by the area
communities, and the Fraser Valley and Fraser Canyon advertising
in the Yellow Listings.
- The Fraser Valley and Canyon Portal is an
electronic manager of on-line community-specific information.
The Fraser Valley and Canyon Portal provides an alternative to
Internet users, who desire to use the Web efficiently. Today
most people spend as much as 90 percent of their time within
10 to 15 miles of their homes. Furthermore, today most people
like to travel and look at cities as locals do. The Fraser Valley
and Canyon Portal offers an easy-to-use resource that is relevant
to residents and tourists alike.
The primary concept is to help the
communities in the greater Fraser Valley and Canyon areas maintain
their autonomy, and not be lost in a large volume of links and
data from large metro areas and those outside Fraser Valley and
Fraser Canyon. We feel in this way, we can provide the best web
site for your total use, as well as the ability to promote the
Fraser Valley and Fraser Canyon area without the splash of large
city distractions. If you want to find a plumber, you will find
one in the primary Fraser Valley or Fraser Canyon area without
going through a huge listing that does not apply or is too far
from you to be of service. In the world of the internet this
is known as a community portal.
- The Fraser Valley and Canyon Portal web site
presents several feature sections such as interactive search
engines and easy-to-use listings tapping into the character of
each city. In addition users will find sections providing detailed
solid information on accommodations, art galleries, museums,
bars, classic music, clubs, concerts, dance, restaurants, shopping,
sightseeing, sports and theater, community information, basic
information for tourists, community living, business and shopping,
services, plus basics such as weather forecast, local yellow
& white pages, classified ads and other.
- Web sites of the Fraser Valley and Canyon
Portal are updated continually and packed with expert insider
information, giving an in-depth perspective on life in various
cities of Fraser Valley and Canyon areas.
- The Fraser Valley and Canyon Portal offers
high quality content through its multiple content alliances,
which add to the content compiled and edited by local staff.
- Unlike other on-line city specific Web sites
that are composed primarily of a generic, pre-determined format
for all cities, the Fraser Valley and Canyon Portal is built
by locals, who live in their communities and understand the needs
for local information.
- The Fraser Valley and Canyon Portal makes
users Web experience more enjoyable and help users locate important
information, including tips on the basics of a city -- from getting
in and out of the city to locations of banks and hospitals --
along with just about everything else users might need to know
about a city, whether the user lives in the city, is planning
a vacation, is traveling on business, or is just surfing the
Web for fun.
- The Fraser Valley and Canyon Portal has a
dedication in keeping the original spirit of the Internet alive,
by bringing the power of the Web to work for local communities,
as local individuals, and small businesses, compile and organize
relevant information for each community, all within one Web site.
- We feel the Fraser Valley and Canyon areas
should be able to keep their identity, but we do not believe
in isolationism. In a large medium such as this, outside
information will be provided, but as a secondary topic, keeping
the initial concept of supporting the area first.
- FraserValley.Net plans to have pages available
to the MP's, MLA and RCMP from all the ridings
in our area to provide you with the latest happenings in our
government that are of most interest to the Fraser Valley and
Fraser Canyon residents.
- Want to e-mail a Postcard to someone
anywhere in the world, our postcard area will have over 300 photographs
to chose from, as well as a selection of tunes to play while
they read your postcard message.
- We welcome your input and suggestions, you are
important, and will determine the
evolution of the site.
You can contact us via e-mail
or write or call: FraserValley.Net, 4307 Vicars St., Chilliwack,
B.C., V2P 6V9, Phone: 604-792-4764
Please be patient with
us, in the coming weeks we will be providing you:
- Yellow Listings - This is the area that pays to keep this site running.
We charge a very low rate for business listings here. The objective
is to provide a web presence to those businesses that do not
need a web site. A lot of hype has been broadcast that if you
are not on the web, you are not in business. This is a myth and
always will be. We believe that providing a listing very similar
in concept to the phone book, that is easy to find a plumber,
electrician etc in your locale can provide the presence that
a lot of small businesses need and will see the most efficient
return on their investment, with little or no risk.

listing for that search.

- Year 2000 Info. - Yes the Y2K thing. First the world is not coming to
an end and all computers will not cease to function in the year
2000. There may be some areas of record keeping that will have
problems, but most of the worlds power plants and machinery can
be manually operated and trucks can be dispatched by humans......remember
trucks were here before computers, and so were power plants.
The big problem is data errors and inconvenience. To help you
with these problems and how to solve any you may have, we have
linked to the Year 2000 web site. Also on our main site page
will be a test file you can download and run on your pc to check
its Y2K compliance if you have any worries.
